His second flight not much
later was in a Gulfstream II business jet while he was working for
Gulfstream American Corporation as a draftsman.
In 1979 at the age of 19, after those two flights Jimmy signed up
for flight training with the company flying club and since that
time has flown aircraft ranging from a 1943 Stearman to Lear Jets.
After ten years and many hours spent flying banners over Orlando,
Jimmy completed the purchase of the "Flying Circus" and
continues the Orlando tradition started by Bob Snow in 1974.
As the new owners, Jimmy and his wife Robyn formed Rosie O'Grady's
Aerial Advertising Company and provides aerial advertising offering
banners, billboards, and skywriting the same way it has been done
over Orlando for more than 20 years.
The Lightship Group: Aerial Camera
Platform
The Lightship® is ideally
suited to the role of an aerial TV camera platform owing to its
ability to remain airborne for long periods and its high degree
of maneuverability and low noise level.
It is a fact that the Lightship is the preferred airship amongst
broadcasters for golf events due to its low noise output.
The cameras used on the Lightships are supplied and operated by
Flying Pictures Live, a joint venture between The Lightship Group
and Flying Pictures.
The Lightship has been used extensively by broadcasters across Europe,
the USA and Australia for live coverage of important sporting and
cultural events such as Formula 1 Grand Prix, US Tennis Open, Golfing
tournaments, The 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the 1994 Lillehammer Winter
Olympics, the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Major
League Baseball and the World Series, NFL and the Superbowl, NASCAR,
Indycar and International soccer and rugby.

Aerial Advertising - Flying Billboards
billboard, lead pole, flight,
hook.
We often attach custom messages
with 7 foot red letters to the tail that can be changed every flight.
Many of our clients appreciate our ability to cover Los Angeles,
San Francisco, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Tahoe as well.
For less frequent flights the billboard can be disassembled and
shipped to the desired location.
The front of the billboard has a rigid pole made of fiberglass or
aluminum sewn into the fabric, which keeps the leading edge open
in flight.
The lead pole is weighted on the bottom to keep the billboard upright.
The pilot takes off with a hook, which is attached by a 25-foot
line to the tail, on his lap.
